Chamberlain Manufacturing Awarded $29 Million Contract WASHINGTON - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) and Congressman Don Sherwood (PA-10) today announced that Chamberlain Manufacturing Company has been awarded a $29,181,816 contract by the Department of Defense to produce metal parts for high-explosive ammunition. The plant will produce metal parts in support of the M107 Projectile, the United States Army's most widely used ammunition. "Since 1963, Chamberlain has manufactured top-notch metal parts for the Department of Defense. The fact that federal government has consistently awarded contracts to our Scranton plant speaks volumes about the quality of work produced by employees in our area," Congressman Kanjorski. "The M107 system supports an important weapon for today's soldier, and this $29 million contract is a boost to our region's economy." "This M107 workload helps keep our skilled people on the job at the Chamberlain plant while building up our artillery inventories to necessary levels," said Congressman Sherwood. "The workers at the Scranton plant are an important part of our ammunition industrial base, giving our military the best artillery and mortar rounds at the lowest cost." The contract is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2007 and all parts will be manufactured in Scranton. A total of 349 people are employed at the Scranton plant, which is a government-owned facility run by the Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation.
