            Kanjorski Announces Grant Application Period Open for Fire Prevention and Safety Grants        

WASHINGTON - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) today announced that the application period has begun for the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety grant program. The deadline for grant applications is 5 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2007.

Applications are available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program Web site, http://www.firegrantsupport.com/. A tutorial designed to instruct applicants about the competitive application and submission process will be soon be available on this site.

Congressman Kanjorski, who has been a strong supporter of the legislation that provides funding for first responders, urges all fire companies in his Congressional District to apply for the grants.
