Kanjorski (PA-11) issued the following statement today based on the unofficial report of the death of Sgt. Sherwood Baker, 109th Field Artillery Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, stationed in Iraq. "All of these young men and women who are serving our nation both in Iraq and Afghanistan represent our best and finest, and we are all indebted to them for giving the full measure of sacrifice in the defense of freedom. Sgt. Sherwood Baker should be remembered as a hero by his adopted home of Northeastern Pennsylvania. I know I speak for all the citizens of Northeastern Pennsylvania as we express our deepest sympathy and condolences to Sgt. Baker's wife, Debra, and their son, James. We stand ready to provide any and all assistance they might need during this tragic time."
